Just four weeks before we came here, they finished painting the grey stairs and other structures in trippy colors – without the formal permissions, they would have needed. It’s been in the news lately.

The colorful stairs distract from the 42 m high golden statue of Murugan, a Hindu deity

Looks as if a hyperactive 5-year-old has colored this with his Crayons, but still impressive.

Inside the caves

The insides of the caves are also full of shrines

Cliffs on the inside. If you look closely, you can see monkeys climbing the rock face.

Ten different species of bats are living in the massive cave. Cute ones and those with a sonar-thing in their face.

Nando’s

My first time at a Nando’s, the casual restaurant chain from South Africa that hasn’t made it to Germany yet.

Durian feast

After all the complaining about the disgusting durian smell in the streets, we decided to try it for real. This is pure durian (on the right) with vanilla soft ice cream. The taste is impossible to describe, but it definitely tastes worse than it smells.
